Despite my frequent visits to Thailand, I had never taken time to enjoy a Thai massage until my visit last week. A friend I met at the beach was explaining to me the science behind the practice, about energy lines in the body and what a masseur does to give your body relaxation. Of course I did not understand most of this science but I was able to follow the long history of massage in the islands. Comfortable in the knowledge that Thai massage in the Bophut hotels was carried out by well-trained professionals, I asked for room service. I wondered why I had not done this more regularly.
