Chop saw Fences need improvement

July 30th, 2010 . by admin

I have a miter saw for woodworking that I really like, its a Delta 12″ brand and it works awesome.  Sometimes these are called chop saws in differentarticles.  The problem with most of them is the lack of design on the fence.  Most brands want to keep the cost down, and rightfully sosince you really want to put your money into a good blade.  Adding a simple stop block type of assembly to the fence would be a hugeimprovement and would cost surprisingly little.  Basically all you need is a hole drilled into the fence and a piece of hardwoodwith some t-track installed. This is very basic and could be done for pennies on the dollar.  It would change the functionality of the the whole saw and really help when you are making mutiple cuts or cutting smaller stock.  Anything that helps me makemore consitent cuts I am a fan of and would spend the extra dollars to have right out of the box.
