South Pacific has won ten Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Libretto and won four Tony Awards for acting which makes it the only musical production to ever win for acting. South Pacific started out at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut then moved on to Boston. In April 1949 the show went to Broadway, at the Majestic Theatre then moved to the Broadway Theatre in June of 1953. Currently, South Pacific is at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center in New York and tours other cities for weeks at a time such as Los Angeles, Denver and Portland.
